Here's a little freebie for you that I hope you can use next week with multiple grade levels. And you can do it in multiple ways!
I made some "Valentine" cards. Students can address them by composing their own rhythms. Or, you can use it as a dictation exercise and they must write what you clap. Either way, it should be a fun way to practice rhythm writing during a time next week when we all know they'll be loaded up on sugar and anticipation!! :)
After they write their cards they could put them in those cute little mailboxes (remember that post?) Then they could read each other's cards. Or, your first graders would think it would be fun to bring their Valentine home to their parents. Like all things, the possibilities are endless.
Here's what the cards look like
4/4 meter cards:
3/4 meter cards:
2/4 meter cards:
There are two 6/8 meter cards (sometimes those older students can write smaller. . . sometimes they can't. So, you can decide if you want to use the 4 measure cards or the 2 measure cards.)
I hope you're all having a GREAT week!!
